Indonesian shoe manufacturer Ortuseight has launched five new shoe series, one of the aims of which is to help PPLP (Student Sports Education and Training Center) students.
Yuda Amardika, brand manager of the Ortuseight brand owner, PT Vita Nova Atletik, said that one of the advantages of these shoes is that they have an affordable price without sacrificing quality.
"Ortuseight created these supershoes for PPLP students. Their salaries aren't high, and buying shoes that cost 4.5 to 5 million rupiah is quite a challenge. So, Ortuseight offers a more affordable option, yet offers performance comparable to much more expensive international brands," Yuda said at the shoe launch in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday.
At the event, Ortuseight launched five series of running shoes for 2026, consisting of Hyperdrive 3.0, Hyperblast 3.0, Hyperglide 3.0, Altara, and Solar 2.0.
Each of these five shoes has its own market niche. The Hyperdrive targets runners seeking high speed, the Hyperblast targets runners seeking to maximize a variety of tempos, the Hyperglide is for runners transitioning to carbon shoes, the Altara is for outdoor enthusiasts, and the Solar is for runners seeking comfort.
On that occasion, Yuda also explained that the majority of running shoe buyers in Indonesia are recreational runners.
"Most people buy non-carbon. Because most runners in Indonesia are recreational or fitness runners, the most popular are the Hyperglide and Hyperplus series. Hundreds of thousands of pairs have been sold, and even now, stores are calling them 'magic goods,'" Yuda said.
Running has now become a lifestyle choice for urban Indonesians. With growing public awareness of healthy living, combined with some people's desire to be visible on social media, the running shoe and accessory business is booming.
