Secretary General of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) Central Executive Board, Nirmala Dewi, said the additional budget for the 2025 Thailand SEA Games will be used for the national team's national training camp (TC) abroad.
Perbasi welcomed the budget increase of Rp60 billion from the Ministry of Youth and Sports for all federations or sports associations that will send athletes next December.
"As a basketball federation that will be sending its athletes, we will make the most of this opportunity," Nirmala told ANTARA from Jakarta on Friday.
According to him, Perbasi is focused on preparing TC programs in several countries that have strong basketball qualities.
This step is taken to improve the technical and mental readiness of the players.
"We believe that if the players are accustomed to facing tough opponents, it will strengthen their mentality when competing in the upcoming SEA Games," said Nirmala.
Nirmala also emphasized the importance of developing the fighting character and togetherness of athletes.
Perbasi hopes that more thorough preparation can increase Indonesia's chances of maintaining its basketball achievements, both in 5on5 and 3x3.
