Real Madrid mourned José Manuel Ochotorena, one of the club's most prominent goalkeepers, who passed away at the age of 64
In an official statement, the club expressed its sincere condolences to the deceased's family, friends, former teammates, and all the clubs he represented during his career, affirming that Ochotorena will remain a Real Madrid icon.

The statement read: "Real Madrid offers its deepest condolences to his family, fans and admirers around the world. May God have mercy on Ochotorena and grant him eternal peace."

Ochotorena began his career with Real Madrid in 1982 and played for the team until 1988, winning two UEFA Cups, three La Liga titles, and one Copa del Rey.

He later starred for Valencia, Tenerife, Logrones and Racing Santander, and during his time with Valencia, he won the Zamora Trophy for best goalkeeper in the Spanish League in the 1989-1990 season.

Ochotorena participated with the Spanish national team in the 1990 World Cup in Italy, and after retiring, he continued his career in football as a goalkeeping coach for several major clubs, including Valencia and Liverpool.

He also worked as part of the Spanish national team's technical staff between 2004 and 2021, a golden period that saw La Roja win the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.
