The Ministry of Communication and Digital Studies is reviewing China's regulations requiring certification for influencers.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) is reviewing the Chinese government's new policy requiring influencers to have certification to create content on certain topics.

Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, Head of the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital, stated that his agency is still conducting internal discussions and analysis regarding the regulation.

"This information is still new, and we're still reviewing it. We have a WhatsApp group discussing, 'What's the deal with this issue? A country has already issued a new policy.' We're still reviewing it," said Bonifasius at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Friday.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital continues to monitor the policies of other countries regarding steps taken to maintain the digital ecosystem.

He gave an example, Indonesia learned from Australia which limits the use of social media for minors, which then prompted the issuance of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning Governance of Electronic System Implementation in Child Protection (PP Tunas).

According to Bonifasius, the certification policy for influencers in China is still being reviewed and analyzed as the government seeks to prevent the spread of misinformation without restricting people's freedom in the digital space.

"We need to be vigilant, but not too restrictive. Competence is essential, so we don't want to see those who create inappropriate content," he said.
