DKI Jakarta has secured its overall title as the champion of the 2025 National Martial Arts Games in Kudus Regency, Central Java, after performing brilliantly in the final three sports: wushu, karate, and jujitsu.
"From those three sports alone, we managed to add 37 medals, 17 of which were gold, bringing the total to 99 gold medals, including 42 gold, 27 silver, and 30 bronze, surpassing West Java," said Deputy Chairman of KONI DKI Jakarta Fatchul Anas in a press conference at the Media Center for the Djarum Arena Kaliputu Martial Arts National Sports Week, Kudus Regency, Sunday.
DKI began to recover from the second week, especially through kempo which contributed seven gold medals and pencak silat.
In the third week, jujitsu contributed four gold medals thanks to a year of intensive training.
Fatchul emphasized that they would not be complacent, as their primary target remains the 2028 National Games in East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara. He stated that sports that failed to win medals would be further improved.
Fatchul said DKI's success was the result of major improvements by the DKI Jakarta KONI after the 2024 PON.
"From the start, we set a target of winning the overall championship because we lost to West Java in the Aceh-North Sumatra PON. Furthermore, all training received full support from the Jakarta Provincial Government, from the governor, the Youth and Sports Agency, to the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD)," said Fatchul.
