A total of 21 top table tennis clubs from eight provinces in Indonesia will take part in the Sukun Youth Series II Season 2025–2026 at the Sukun Kudus Sports Hall, Central Java, on November 14–16, 2025.
"The number of participants should have been greater, but due to the overlap with preparations for a similar championship, several clubs were unable to participate. Furthermore, plans for clubs from Singapore and Malaysia to participate were also postponed as they focused on preparing for the SEA Games," said Frengky Setyo Prabowo, Chairman of the Sukun Youth Series II Committee, at the opening of the event at the Sukun Kudus Sports Hall on Friday.
The opening of the competition was attended by the Regent of Kudus, Sam'ani Intakoris, and the manager of PT Sukun Wartono Indonesia, as well as other invited guests.
This championship is divided into age groups of 13, 15, and 19 years, with the competition system using a group format divided into the Main Division and Conference.
According to him, this championship, which showcases the best young national talent, is one of a series of competitions to develop table tennis athletes in the country.
Sam'ani Intakoris appreciates PT Sukun, which he considers consistent in supporting sports development, especially table tennis.
"Through events like this, young athletes not only get a competitive platform, but also the opportunity to develop towards national and even international achievements," he said.
Sam'ani welcomed all athletes and officials.
"Welcome to Kudus Regency. Enjoy our city's cool, safe atmosphere, which supports the growth of sporting achievements," he said.
PT Sukun Wartono Indonesia Corporate Secretary Deka Hendratmanto explained that this year's competition uses a tiered concept to map athletes' abilities more effectively.
"This year's table tennis event is divided into two age groups. This afternoon's event is for the youth level, while the senior level will be held next year. This provides space for athletes to continue participating in regular events," he said.
