A Palestinian was killed by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, and the Jerusalem Governorate warned against Israeli actions targeting foreign consulates.

The ministry said in a statement that "the General Authority for Civil Affairs reported the martyrdom of the child Murad Fawzi Abu Seifen (15 years old) by Israeli occupation forces in the town of Yamoun," noting that the Israeli forces seized his body.

Local sources reported that an Israeli military force stormed the town late Wednesday evening, shot a young man, and prevented ambulance crews from reaching him.

This comes as part of the repeated raids carried out by the occupation army on cities and towns in the West Bank with the aim of arresting Palestinians, which often result in martyrs and wounded.

With the martyrdom of Abu Seifen, the number of martyrs in Jenin Governorate since the start of the aggression on the city and camp of Jenin on January 21 has risen to 56 martyrs, and more than 200 wounded, according to the Palestinian News Agency “Wafa”.

In the same context , on Wednesday evening, a young Palestinian man was shot by the occupation army while trying to cross the separation wall in the town of Al-Ram, north of Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, which transferred the injured man to a hospital in Ramallah.

Palestinian injuries are frequently reported near the separation wall surrounding Jerusalem and along the West Bank, as Palestinian workers attempt to cross it in search of work inside Israel, given that they have been prevented from entering their workplaces since the start of the war on Gaza nearly two years ago.

The wall, which Israel erected under the pretext of "security," is more than 8 meters high and extends for nearly 202 kilometers, most of it within occupied Palestinian territory, according to the Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem. The International Court of Justice in The Hague deemed its construction "illegal" in 2004.

According to the General Federation of Trade Unions, 44 Palestinian workers have been killed and dozens injured by Israeli occupation army fire since the start of the war, while more than 32,000 have been arrested while trying to cross the wall or work inside Israel.

On Wednesday evening, Jenin Governorate witnessed a new escalation, as flares fired by the Israeli occupation forces in the village of Rummanah, west of the city, caused a number of olive trees on citizens' lands to burn, while civil defense crews worked to extinguish the fires, according to what was reported by Wafa.

In a related context, the Jerusalem Governorate considered the discussion by the National Security Committee in the Israeli Knesset regarding the status of foreign consulates in the city and the demand to close them as “an expression of political panic and moral collapse,” and “an infringement on international sovereignty and the legal status of Jerusalem.”

The governorate said in a statement that these Israeli moves come at a time when international recognition of the State of Palestine is increasing, noting that several European countries, including France, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, Turkey, Greece and the Vatican, have recently recognized the State of Palestine, bringing the number of countries that recognize it to 160 out of 193 members of the United Nations.

The governorate affirmed that "any attempt to restrict or close foreign consulates in East Jerusalem constitutes an attack on international will," stressing that East Jerusalem  is "occupied Palestinian territory according to international law and United Nations resolutions."

This comes amid continued Israeli attacks on the West Bank and Jerusalem, coinciding with the war of extermination that Israel has been waging on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has resulted in the martyrdom of more than 68,000 Palestinians and the injury of about 170,000, in addition to the destruction of more than 90% of the infrastructure in the Strip.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces and settlers continue their attacks in the West Bank, resulting in the martyrdom of 1,066 Palestinians and the injury of about 10,000 others, as well as the arrest of more than 20,000 people, including 1,600 children.
