A recent scientific study has revealed a proven link, based on experiments with different age groups, between consuming omega-3 fatty acids and a decrease in rates of aggressive behavior in its various forms

A comprehensive analysis of the results of 29 scientific trials lasting an average of 16 weeks, conducted over nearly three decades (between 1996 and 2024), and involving 3,918 participants of various age groups, concluded that dietary supplements containing omega-3 produce a significant reduction in aggression of up to 28%.

The results showed that this positive effect includes both reactive aggression, which appears in response to provocation, and pre-planned proactive aggression.

The benefit also extended to various segments from children under the age of 16 to the elderly between 50-60 years old, confirming the comprehensiveness of this impact across different ages and circumstances.

Professor Adrian Raine, a neurocriminologist at the University of Pennsylvania, asserted that "the time has come to implement the use of omega-3 supplements to reduce aggression in various societal, medical, and legal settings." He also advised parents struggling with aggression in their children to add two extra servings of fish per week to their diet, in addition to any other treatments they may be receiving.

Researchers believe that this positive effect is due to Omega-3's ability to reduce inflammation in the body and support vital processes in the brain, which positively impacts the regulation of behavior and emotions.

These results are consistent with previous research that has shown the benefits of omega-3 in preventing schizophrenia and reducing the risk of heart disease and strokes.

The research team emphasizes that Omega-3 is not a magic solution, but it is an effective tool that can contribute to solving the problem of violence in society, with the need to continue conducting more long-term research to confirm these promising results and study its mechanisms more deeply.
