A study in the journal Molecular Nutrition Food Research indicates that regularly drinking orange juice affects the activity of genes associated with heart health, metabolism, and inflammation

In an experiment conducted by American scientists, 20 healthy volunteers drank two cups a day of natural orange juice (400 ml per cup) for two months, after which the researchers analyzed their immune cells and the activity of more than 1,700 genes.

The results showed that participants with normal weight experienced changes in genes associated with inflammation, while those who were overweight showed changes affecting fat metabolism and energy exchange.

Researchers believe that the flavonoids in the juice are responsible for these effects, as they protect the body and help the heart function better. However, the results are preliminary due to the small sample size and the lack of a control group, and it cannot be definitively stated that orange juice is the direct cause of the genetic changes.

Nutritionist Nicolette Bess emphasized that juice is not a magic cure, but it can be part of a healthy diet when consumed in moderation, as its sugar content does not negate its potential benefits.
