After being detained under harsh conditions, the occupation releases 5 Palestinian prisoners from Gaza

Hamas' Prisoners' Office said in a post on Telegram: "Five prisoners have arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, after they were released by the occupation a short while ago."

The office did not provide details of their health condition, but former detainees reported that many prisoners are released suffering from malnutrition and injuries resulting from severe physical torture inside Israeli prisons.

Israel released about 1,700 prisoners from Gaza on October 13, as part of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement signed by Hamas and Israel.

The agreement came into effect on October 10, brokered by Egypt, Qatar and Turkey and sponsored by the US President, as part of a multi-stage plan.

Most of those released at that time arrived in poor health, and a number of them spoke of being subjected to torture, starvation, and humiliation inside Israeli prisons.

More than 10,000 Palestinians, including children and women, remain in Israeli prisons, suffering torture, starvation, and medical neglect that has claimed the lives of many detainees, according to Israeli and Palestinian human rights organizations.

The agreement ended two years of genocidal war that Israel began on October 8, 2023 with American support, which left 68,875 Palestinian martyrs and more than 170,000 wounded.
