Carlos Alcaraz withdrew from the Spanish team's quarter-final in the Davis Cup Final 8 against the Czech Republic, which will take place on Thursday (20/11) in Bologna, Italy, due to a right hamstring injury.
"It is with great regret that I announce that I will not be able to play for Spain in the Davis Cup in Bologna," Alcaraz said in a post on his social media on Tuesday.
The world No. 1, who lost to Jannik Sinner in the ATP Finals final on Sunday (16/11), needed a medical timeout in the final to bandage his foot.
Alcaraz arrived in Bologna but after undergoing tests, decided to withdraw and return home.
"I have edema in my right hamstring and the medical recommendation is to not compete," said Alcaraz.
