Dutch-American 3x3 basketball player Bryan Alberts continues to demonstrate his resilience at the world level, despite suffering from type 1 diabetes since the age of 10.
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 website reported on Friday that at a young age, life must be lived in a measured manner, from diet to match preparation.
"I used to have to prick my finger 10 times a day and inject insulin with every meal, so everything had to be planned, there was no spontaneity," Alberts said.
The mainstay of the Amsterdam Rabobank 3x3 basketball team and the Dutch 3x3 national team makes discipline and health management the main foundation of his career.
That discipline paid off last weekend when Amsterdam Rabobank claimed its first title at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2025 in Bucharest.
For Alberts, the victory was proof of his and the team's hard work and consistency.
