Coffee is an important intake for many people, whether to start the day or improve their mood at work.
However, there are several common mistakes that should be avoided when drinking coffee. Instead of increasing enthusiasm for activities, these mistakes can actually harm gut and liver health.
Quoted from Eatingwell, Thursday, Gastroenterologist Dr. Sautabh Sethi, based in California and trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford University, revealed seven common mistakes when drinking coffee that can harm gut and liver health.
1. Coffee on an empty stomach
According to Dr. Sethi, drinking coffee on an empty stomach can increase stomach acid levels, nausea and even gastritis if done regularly.
2. Coffee with added sugar, creamer and syrup
Flavored coffee contains unhealthy calories, around 30 to 50 grams of sugar, which can actually trigger fatty liver disease and even diabetes.
3. More than 4 cups of coffee per day
More than 400 milligrams of caffeine or about four cups causes a spike in cortisol, intestinal irritation, palpitations, and anxiety.
