Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka was given a warm welcome by the diaspora in Johannesburg, South Africa, accompanied by the song "Rayuan Pulau Kelapa" upon his arrival at the hotel where he was staying.
After arriving at OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, Friday at around 3:15 p.m. local time and driving to the hotel, the diaspora welcomed Gibran with small Red and White flags waving in their hands.
When Gibran entered the hotel lobby area, dozens of diaspora immediately welcomed him and sang the song "Rayuan Pulau Kelapa".
The atmosphere was filled with emotion when the Indonesian national anthem was sung by Indonesian citizens (WNI) in South Africa.
During the event, a pair of Indonesian children dressed in traditional attire presented Gibran with a bouquet of King Protea (Protea Cynaroides), the national flower of South Africa.
Afterward, Gibran posed for photos with the diaspora. Feeling the distance was too great, Gibran invited the diaspora to come closer to him.
