Haaland has the potential to surpass Shearer, Guardiola takes his hat off

Haaland has the potential to surpass Shearer, Guardiola takes his hat off  Manchester City manager Josep 'Pep' Guardiola has praised his team's striker Erling Haaland, who has the potential to break the record as the fastest player to score 100 goals in the Premier League, surpassing legendary English striker Alan Shearer.

Quoted from the Manchester City website, Saturday, Guardiola said Erling Haaland deserved the same respect as Shearer.

"I always give my hat to players who are able to consistently score a lot of goals," said the Spanish tactician.

Since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, Haaland has made 108 appearances and scored 99 goals for Manchester City in the Premier League.

This means that if Haaland scores at least one goal in the 2025/2026 Premier League match against Newcastle United at St. James Park Stadium, Newcastle, Sunday (23/11) early morning WIB, he will break Shearer's record of scoring 100 goals in just 124 matches.

"I admire them for their consistent performance every season. To do that, you have to have incredible focus, be professional, and love the game," said Guardiola.
