Indonesia has once again been entrusted to host the 17th Southeast Asian U18–U20 Athletics Championships 2025, a prestigious event that will bring together the best young athletes from 10 Southeast Asian countries. It will be held from November 15–18, 2025, at the Madya Atletik Stadium, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra.
The 10 countries are Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Timor Leste, and Vietnam.
In his statement on Monday, the Chairman of the Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, emphasized the importance of the championship as part of the regional athletics development ecosystem roadmap.
Many elite ASEAN athletes started their international journey from this stage, before shining at the SEA Games, Asian Games, and even the Olympics.
By hosting the Games, Indonesia not only demonstrates its capacity as a credible organizer but also strengthens its position as a hub for athletic development in Southeast Asia.

"The support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports reflects the importance of cross-sector collaboration to drive sustainable athletic progress—both for athletes, federations, and national sporting achievements," he said.
A total of 220 athletes and 80 officials are scheduled to compete in 63 events, covering the U18 and U20 categories. All athletics events, including running, throwing, and jumping, will be contested in this championship.
This event will take place at the Madya Atletik Stadium, an international standard facility that has received a Class 1 Certificate from World Athletics.
This certification indicates that the track and all technical facilities of the stadium meet the highest standards for hosting official world-class athletics competitions, including for setting national and international records.
