Indonesia has been appointed by FIFA as the host of the 2026 FIFA Series tournament, a biennial event featuring international friendly matches between countries from various confederations. The first FIFA Series event will be held in 2024.
"The FIFA Series aims to unlock the development potential of players, coaches and fans, while promoting the universality and diversity of football through meaningful matches. The 2026 edition will further enhance this impact for both men's and women's football," FIFA President Gianni Infantino said on the FIFA website on Friday.
The FIFA Series 2026 will take place during the international match window of March and April next year, which will feature international matches for both men and women in 2026.
Indonesia was trusted by FIFA to host the men's match.
Apart from Indonesia, other countries appointed by FIFA are Australia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Puerto Rico, Rwanda and Uzbekistan.
The women's FIFA World Cup will debut in Brazil, Ivory Coast and Thailand.
