Komdigi: It is important to maintain relations with the media in the era of openness

  The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between the government and the media in an era of transparency, rampant disinformation, and increasingly sophisticated AI-based manipulative content.


Acting Director of the Media Ecosystem at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Farida Dewi Maharani, stated that changes in information consumption, the openness of the digital public sphere, and the flood of unsubstantiated content have brought the media into its most complex phase in the past two decades.


"The media ecosystem is currently in a very challenging situation. Technology has changed the way people seek information, and anyone can now produce content that isn't always credible. The development of AI actually adds to the complexity, making it increasingly difficult for the public to distinguish between genuine and manipulated content," Dewi said in an official statement.


Coinciding with the Media Relations Technical Guidance (Bimtek) activity with the theme "MediaConnect: Strengthening Relationships, Uniting Narratives", Dewi said that the collaboration between the two must be a mutually reinforcing partnership.




"The government needs the media to maintain the credibility of information and build public trust, while the media needs accurate data and access to sources to ensure quality reporting," he added.


With the increasingly broad media spectrum, Dewi recommends that the government always embrace various parties ranging from conventional media, mediagram , homeless media , content creators , to influencers , who also have a big role in shaping public opinion.


This activity also highlighted the importance of developing a long-term collaborative strategy between the government and the media.


Kominfo officials need to master media collaboration mechanisms, understand the characteristics of each platform, and be able to manage paid and non-paid channels to maximize the dissemination of positive public information.
