PT Linknet Tbk is promoting equal internet access in Indonesia by transforming its business model into an open access network infrastructure provider.
The move was announced at the 2025 National Technology Summit held at Kota Kasablanka, South Jakarta, on Wednesday.
"Our goal is, of course, to make Indonesia more connected and provide internet access that can be used by all internet service providers (ISPs) to have the best impact on the nation," said Linknet's Chief People & Corporate Affairs Officer, Yosafat Hutagalung, on the sidelines of the event.
The 2025 National Technology Summit marked Linknet's first event in its 25-year history. It was held as part of its corporate responsibility program and the result of a strategic collaboration with the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII).
The forum brings together telecommunications industry leaders and policymakers to discuss building an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem.
On the same occasion, APJII Chairman Muhammad Arif said that household internet penetration in Indonesia is still relatively low, namely around 18 percent of the total households, or below the average for ASEAN countries.
"It's still a long way off, still below 20 percent. This is a shared responsibility to ensure collaboration between industry players can continue to improve," Arif said.
The transformation towards an open network model is expected to strengthen collaboration between service providers and accelerate the distribution of digital connectivity across Indonesia.
