Portland Trail Blazers basketball player Matisse Thybulle will undergo left thumb surgery to repair a torn ligament, which will keep him out for a significant amount of time this season.
The NBA website reported on Saturday that the versatile player, who can play both guard and forward, will be re-evaluated in the next four to six weeks, meaning the team will certainly miss him.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury during the game against the Utah Jazz on Thursday (30/10).
Thybulle was holding his left hand after a fast break at the end of the first quarter, then did not return to the game until the start of the second quarter.
An MRI scan showed a tear in the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) of Thybulle's left thumb.
This season marks Thybulle's seventh in the NBA. He averages five points per game (ppg) and one rebound per game (rpg).
