Metap allows Facebook groups to be public without opening member privacy

Meta announced a feature update on Facebook Groups that allows administrators to change a group's status from private to public without compromising the privacy of existing members.

As reported by Tech Crunch on Tuesday, Meta stated that all old content will remain private after the changes are made, while the member list will also remain protected.

This step is intended for admins who initially created a group with a small scope, but then want to expand their audience reach to make it easier to find.

With this update, they don't have to create a new group from scratch to make it public, while ensuring that members' old posts are not exposed to the public.

According to Meta, group privacy changes can be made through the Facebook settings page. When the primary admin changes the group's status from private to public, all other admins will be notified and have three days to review and cancel the change if they disagree.
