In his official statement on Tuesday, he stated that Nova is the best local coach currently, having led the U-17 national team to compete in the 2025 U-17 World Cup and made history by securing Indonesia's first victory in the event.
"Nova is a coach who is beyond debate, the best coach Indonesia currently has, and we've given him the opportunity to lead the U-20 national team. That's the context," said Erick.
Nova was officially announced by PSSI to be promoted to coach the U-20 National Team from the U-17 National Team, on Thursday (20/11) last week at the GBK Arena, Jakarta.
Commenting on his appointment at the time, Nova admitted that he wanted to guide the players he had mentored to the senior level.
"There are indeed many things I need to improve, especially regarding mental and discipline, that's what I was like in the U-17," he said.
