Indonesian women's singles player Putri Kusuma Wardani advanced to the final after defeating Canadian representative Michelle Li with 17–21, 21–16, and 21–18 in the semifinals of the 2025 Australian Open at Quaycenter, Sydney, Saturday.
The second-seeded Indonesian struggled to keep up with their opponents in the opening game before rebounding and dominating the next two games to close out the match with a win.
Putri KW acknowledged Michelle's strength and punching character, which she said was similar to Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and made things quite difficult for her.
"At the end of the third game, it was tense because Michelle Li, with her experience and superiority, was able to keep pressuring me until the end," he said.
However, her ability to maintain focus allowed her to secure crucial points and secure victory. Putri expressed satisfaction with ending the match with a crucial victory that secured her place in the final of the Super 500 tournament.
