Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports, Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, assured that all athletes participating in the 2025 SEA Games, including the Cambodian contingent, will receive equal treatment and security guarantees while in Thailand.As reported by The Nation on Tuesday, Atthakorn said he had coordinated with senior officials from the Sports Authority of Thailand to ensure there was no discrimination in treatment for athletes from any country.
"We see them as athletes and honored guests. Our job is to provide the best possible service in terms of comfort, accommodation, and security," said Atthakorn.
He responded to public concerns that political issues could be brought into the sporting arena, including the possibility of provocative actions by some athletes.
According to him, the athletes understand the values of sportsmanship and come as professionals to compete.
"Their job is to compete, and Thailand's job is to ensure security for all countries equally," he said.
