The government has officially implemented a Transportation Ticket Discount Program for the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays starting November 21, 2025, to encourage public mobility during the year-end holidays.
"This policy is a direct directive from the President to provide incentives to the public through more affordable transportation services. Public mobility is a crucial component and plays a major role in driving economic growth, so it needs to be optimized during the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year holiday period," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto in Jakarta on Thursday.
Coordinating Minister Airlangga explained that this program has been prepared since the fourth quarter of 2025.
All technical preparations were discussed in the Task Force for the Acceleration of Government Strategic Programs and agreed upon at the Technical Coordination Meeting (Rakornis) of the P2SP Task Force held at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs office.
As a basis for implementation, the government issued a Joint Decree (SKB) from four ministers/heads of agencies, namely the Minister of Transportation, the Minister of Finance, BP BUMN, and BPI Danantara.
The Joint Decree stipulates that state-owned transportation companies are tasked with providing tariff discounts during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
