The Ministry of Communication and Digital has opened public consultations on the Draft Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Digital concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of the National Press Monument.
"In the formation of laws and regulations, including Ministerial Regulations, the process also requires the participation of the public so that the resulting regulations can meet the needs and aspirations of the community," wrote the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
This draft regulation is a derivative of the Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation No. 1 of 2025 concerning the Organization and Work Procedures of the Ministry of Communication and Digital. This regulation serves as the basis for organizational arrangements within technical implementing units, including the National Press Monument.
Institutionally, the National Press Monument is a Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) under and responsible to the Director General of Public Communication and Media at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology. This institution is tasked with preserving and managing press collections and products of historical value.
In its implementation, the National Press Monument carries out a number of functions, including program and budget preparation, procurement and maintenance of historical collections, collection management cooperation, and library and archive management.
This institution also plays an important role in educating the public about the history of the press's struggle and its contribution to national development.
"The Press Monument plays a vital role in preserving the history of the press's struggle and educating the public about the role of the press in the nation's development," said the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.
