According to medical experts, adopting certain lifestyle habits can help reduce abdominal fat in the long term.
As quoted in a Hindustan Times report on Tuesday, gastroenterologist and hepatologist Saurabh Sethi outlined three steps that can be taken to reduce belly fat: intermittent fasting, consuming fat-reducing drinks, and adopting a high-fiber and high-protein diet.
1. Start intermittent fasting 12:12
According to gastroenterologists, efforts to reduce belly fat can be achieved by starting 12:12 intermittent fasting, a 12-hour eating window. For example, eating from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and then fasting until 7:00 AM.
Implementing this approach can help people sleep better at night and reduce the likelihood of choosing unhealthy foods the next day.
2. Drink fat-lowering drinks
Dr. Saurabh Sethi suggests consuming beverages such as black coffee, green tea, black tea, water, apple cider vinegar, lemon water, fennel or basil water, chamomile tea or ginger tea during the meal period to help reduce body fat.
3. High fiber and protein diet
During the eating period, Dr. Saurabh Sethi recommends a high-fiber and high-protein diet. Combining high-fiber foods like fruits and vegetables with protein-rich foods like fish, turkey, and beans can help you feel full and promote fat burning.
