Google Indonesia Country Director Veronica Utami said YouTube Indonesia is ready to be involved if the government wants to hold discussions on certification for content creators or influencers.
"We need to talk about the core issues, because there are various types of content creators and various platforms. So, we can discuss this in a discussion. We can talk about it together," Veronica said at a media meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Responding to the issue of the government currently reviewing regulations regarding influencer certification, Veronica assessed that the idea is a good thing for the conventional media industry, because content creators are now considered a profession that is carried out seriously.
He believes the certification discourse could have a positive impact on the content creator ecosystem. Aspiring creators can learn about various ways to get started and encourage all parties to at least meet the agreed-upon minimum standards.
This step is also considered to be able to encourage content creators to be more successful in the future.
"There's a minimum skill standard, you know, to be successful as a content creator. Of course, how that's done, who's involved, and how the platform is involved are issues we need to explore together, along with the authorities who will issue the policy. But I've heard that's very interesting, and it's worth delving deeper into," he said.
