The Indonesian Telecommunications Network Providers Association (Apjatel) is preparing mitigation measures in the form of an early warning system to protect digital infrastructure in vulnerable areas in Sumatra that are potentially subject to further flooding.
Apjatel Chairman Jerry Mangasas Siregar said the early warning system has been operational at all strategic points, including interconnection hubs from sea to land and between cities.
"We've received direction from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and all stakeholders under the Ministry of Communication and Digital. We're on the same page and very responsive now. We've activated the early system at all strategic hubs, from sea to land, and also at several hubs and interconnection points between cities," Jerry said.
