The Indonesian Telecommunications Network Providers Association (Apjatel) will develop a fiber optic cable network in 40 districts/cities with a total length of 2,000 kilometers by 2026.
"We will be arranging a national fiber optic cable network in 40 regencies/cities, with each city covering 50 km (kilometers), totaling approximately 2,000 km by 2026," said Apjatel Chairman Jerry Mangasas Siregar in South Jakarta on Thursday.
Jerry said this step was crucial given the still-haphazard nature of the fiber optic cables. The restructuring mechanism will be further discussed with Apjatel's 138 permanent members.
