As reported by Macrumors on Tuesday, the information was revealed after a technician named Tibor Blaho discovered several references to advertising features in the code of the Android version of the ChatGPT application.
In the findings, there are a number of codes such as search ads , search ad carousel , and ad API , which indicate that the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot will soon display ads.
While the code traces were found in the Android app, similar changes are expected to apply across platforms, including iOS, Mac, and desktop versions .
The use of the term " search " raises the suspicion that ads will only appear on web search queries or shopping recommendations. Meanwhile, ChatGPT currently offers paid services ranging from a Plus plan for US$20 per month to a Pro plan for US$200 with higher access restrictions.
