Erdogan: Türkiye's stance on what happened in Syria and Gaza is a lesson in human rights. This came in a speech he delivered on Tuesday during an event organized by the ruling Justice and Development Party in the capital, Ankara.

Explaining Turkey's role in the region, Erdogan said: "I say with pride that when the name of Turkey is mentioned, it is no longer just a country that protects its borders that comes to mind, but a country that builds peace and charts the course of diplomacy."

The Turkish president stressed that his country did not pay attention to "pressures and threats, and to those who are morally bankrupt and who sided with the oppressors for various motives, and we have always sought to stop injustice."

Palestine

Regarding the Palestinian issue, President Erdogan said that the patience of the oppressed in Palestine will culminate in victory, and freedom and peace will prevail.

He added that "without a doubt, an independent and sovereign Palestinian state will be established with East Jerusalem as its capital."

On October 10, 2025, a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and a prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel went into effect, according to the plan of US President Donald Trump.

The agreement ended the war of extermination waged by Israel with American support in Gaza, which resulted in the martyrdom of more than 70,000 Palestinians and more than 171,000 wounded, most of them children and women, and caused destruction to 90% of the civilian infrastructure.

Syria

Regarding the Syrian issue, President Erdogan said that Turkey and its people will continue to strongly support Syria and its people in their journey to rebuild their homeland, adding: “I congratulate the Syrian people on the anniversary of the liberation of their country from the oppressor in the name of my country and my people.”

Erdogan affirmed his country's happiness at seeing the Syrian people struggling for a year to rebuild their country despite all the difficulties and destruction left by Assad's dictatorship, and stressed that "Turkey and its people strongly support the efforts of our Syrian brothers in rebuilding and reviving their country."

The Turkish president also stressed that "the smooth implementation of the March 10 agreement (between Damascus and the SDF) will turn upside down the calculations of the evil forces that are betting on an unstable, divided and weak Syria."

For days, Syrians in various governorates of the country have been celebrating their deliverance from the Assad regime through the “Deterring Aggression” battle, which began on November 27, 2014, in Aleppo Governorate (north), before the rebels were able to enter the capital, Damascus, 11 days later.

Syrians see the removal of the Assad regime on December 8, 2024, as the end of a long era of bloody repression, marked by grave violations against civilians, particularly during the 14 years of the revolution.
