Regarding the Gaza peace plan, Fidan said: "Since the first phase has already been completed, talk has now begun about the criteria for moving to the second phase."
The Turkish minister stated that "there is a preliminary study on the reconstruction of Gaza, and it has been submitted, and we have conducted a preliminary discussion based on it," adding: "Gaza should be governed by its inhabitants, and its territory should not be divided in any way, and anything that will happen in Gaza should be for the benefit of its inhabitants."
He noted that the meeting discussed how to set a timetable for transferring the administration of Gaza to a technocratic committee, and explained that "there is also the Peace Council and ongoing work related to it, and parallel discussions are taking place about how to activate it."
Regarding the international stabilization force in Gaza, Fidan said: "We had the opportunity to explain and discuss from our own point of view, and we also listened to other points of view.
He added: "At the highest level, this was the most important meeting so far since the Sharm el-Sheikh meeting."
He stressed that "the issue of humanitarian aid is extremely important, and our President (Recep Tayyip Erdoğan) also attaches great importance to this file, as winter is approaching."
On September 29, US President Donald Trump announced a 20-point plan for peace and an end to the war in Gaza, including the release of Israeli prisoners, a ceasefire, the disarmament of Hamas, an Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the formation of a technocratic government, and the deployment of an international stabilization force.
On October 10, the first phase of the ceasefire agreement came into effect, while Israel violated some of its terms and delayed moving to the second phase, citing the continued captivity of one of its soldiers in Gaza, even though Palestinian factions continue to search for his body amidst the massive destruction left by the two-year Israeli offensive.
The agreement was supposed to end the genocide perpetrated by Tel Aviv over two years starting on October 8, 2023, which resulted in the martyrdom of about 71,000 Palestinians and the injury of more than 171,000, but Israel continues to this day its violations and its suffocating siege on the sector.
