The head of Turkish intelligence discusses a ceasefire agreement in Gaza with a Hamas delegation in Istanbul.
The delegation provided the head of the Turkish intelligence service with information about the violations committed by the Israeli side, and assessed the steps that could be taken to prevent Israeli violations.

The two sides also discussed the intensive efforts made by Türkiye, as a guarantor state, to implement the ceasefire in Gaza, and the efforts made to create the conditions for moving to the second phase to address the outstanding issues.

During the meeting, a briefing was also given on the humanitarian aid that Turkey provides to Gaza, in addition to discussing the efforts made in cooperation with countries in the region and international organizations to bring more aid, especially tents, into the sector.

In the same context, Hamas stated in a statement published on its Telegram account that the delegation confirmed the resistance’s commitment to continuing the ceasefire.

According to the statement, the delegation also reviewed the worsening humanitarian situation in the sector with the onset of winter, stressing the utmost priority of urgently bringing in tents, caravans and heavy equipment to save our people from dying of cold and drowning

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed the need to achieve Palestinian national reconciliation and to uphold the goal of establishing an independent Palestinian state.

It is worth noting that on September 29, US President Donald Trump announced a 20-point plan for peace and an end to the war in Gaza, including the release of Israeli prisoners, a ceasefire, the disarmament of Hamas, an Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the formation of a technocratic government, and the deployment of an international stabilization force.

On October 10, the first phase of the ceasefire agreement came into effect, while Israel violated some of its terms and delayed moving to the second phase, citing the continued captivity of one of its soldiers in Gaza, even though Palestinian factions continue to search for his body amidst the massive destruction left by the two-year Israeli offensive.

The agreement was supposed to end the genocide perpetrated by Tel Aviv over two years starting on October 8, 2023, which resulted in the martyrdom of about 71,000 Palestinians and the injury of more than 171,000, but Israel continues to this day its violations and its suffocating siege on the sector.
