Wirtz scored Liverpool's second goal of the match, ending a 17-game drought in the competition. His first goal came after his 21st attempt on goal, finally breaking his goal drought in the "Reds" shirt in the Premier League.
"It was a great feeling on the pitch with the fans there, I was very happy and I still am," Wirtz told BBC Sport.

Wirtz added: "I was confident that I would score a goal one day. I wished I could have started scoring and creating goals earlier, but things turned out this way and I have to accept it. I just know that it will come and I'm trying to keep going like this."
The German international explained: "We played a great first half, lost control of the game, then regained the initiative. Everyone put in a great effort, and in the last 20 minutes we made things a little difficult, and I can't explain why. We have to change that."

Wertz concluded his remarks by saying: "This is the way we want to play. We want to be at the top. The beginning wasn't easy for us, but we are improving and picking up points."
Liverpool's tally rose to 32 points, temporarily placing them fourth, while Wolverhampton's remained frozen at two points in twentieth and last place.
