Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir emphasized that now is no longer the time for each ministry to run its own work programs.
Erick said that cross-ministerial synergy is currently needed to create programs that can increase national economic turnover.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) is collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism to boost sports tourism in 2026.
"Because this isn't the era for us to create individual, ivory-tower programs. But Mrs. Widi has data, I have data, and I have programs. So, we're synergizing these points," said Erick Thohir at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.
"For example, we'll focus on several surfing locations first. For example, if there are three (locations) by 2029, how much impact (economic turnover) will there be? Now, under the umbrella of this inter-ministerial agreement, we can exchange programs or synergize the programs with funding from two ministries that align with the targets rather than the (running) of each ministry," he added.
