The Ministry of Youth and Sports is collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism to boost sports tourism in 2026.
Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir said that this cross-ministerial synergy is expected to increase revenue from sports tourism.
Currently, the two ministries have mapped tourist attractions that also have the potential to be developed into the sports tourism industry, as has been done at Lake Toba, which regularly hosts F1 Powerboat events.
"Today, the Ministry of Tourism, represented by Minister Widi, asked about synergy. How can we work together to increase the impact of sports tourism in Indonesia?" said Erick Thohir at a press conference at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
"Because I think sports tourism in Indonesia is one area that we haven't fully developed, taking into account our natural beauty," Erick added.
