Deputy Home Affairs Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs supports the Ministry of Human Rights which will hold the National Human Rights Development Planning Conference or Musrenbang.
Bima said the Ministry of Home Affairs is ready to participate in the National Human Rights Musrenbang, which is considered important to ensure human rights-based national development.
"Of course the Ministry of Home Affairs supports that. We are ready (if invited to provide material)," said Bima in his statement in Jakarta, Friday.
Bima believes that the National Human Rights Musrenbang is in line with the Astacita echoed by President Prabowo Subianto.
Therefore, Bima said that the National Human Rights Musrenbang must receive special attention.
"Yes, this is part of Asta Cita, which is mandatory and must be the focus not only of the central government but also of regional heads," he said.
Bima reminded that regional governments are an extension of the central government, so regional governments are encouraged to implement human rights values in development.
"Because regional heads are the spearheads in fulfilling citizens' basic rights, they must be able to understand these (human rights values)," said the former Mayor of Bogor.
