A terrorism convict currently serving a sentence at the Class IIA Palu Penitentiary, Central Sulawesi, has pledged allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
The Head of the Class IIA Palu Makmur Prison, in Palu, Thursday, said that the oath process was part of the development and deradicalization efforts in the prison environment.
"This momentum serves as a declaration of commitment from correctional inmates who today declare their willingness to return to the bosom of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
He explained that the prisoner who made the oath of allegiance was named Ihsanuddin Azis, who did so of his own free will, and had previously been a member of the NII group/network.
Makmur said the pledge was a form of commitment from prisoners to accept and uphold Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, and to abandon violent ideologies and ideologies that conflict with the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
