Pogacar and Vollering will be the king and queen of world cycling in 2025.
The 2025 world road cycling season concluded with the dominance of two big names: Tadej Pogacar and Demi Vollering.

The two not only dominated the individual stage, but also led their respective teams, UAE Team Emirates XRG and FDJ-Suez, to the top of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) world rankings.

According to the UCI's official website on Wednesday, in the men's event, Pogacar reaffirmed his status as the world's best cyclist. The Slovenian athlete recorded a remarkable season with 20 wins throughout 2025, including a gold medal at the UCI World Championships road race in Kigali, Rwanda, and a fourth Tour de France title of his career.

Pogacar's total of 11,680 points ensures he maintains first place in the men's individual UCI World Ranking for the fifth consecutive season, an achievement that confirms his consistency at the highest level of world cycling.

Pogacar's dominance was in line with his team's impressive performance. UAE Team Emirates XRG recorded 95 wins throughout the season, breaking Columbia-HTC's long-standing record of 85 wins, which had stood since 2009.

The team from the United Arab Emirates collected 40,637.65 points, thus securing the title of the best team in the world for the third consecutive time.

Two of Pogacar's teammates also broke into the top five in the world rankings, namely Isaac Del Toro of Mexico in third place and Joao Almeida of Portugal in fifth.

Meanwhile, in the women's division, Demi Vollering reclaimed the UCI world rankings with a total of 4,642.57 points. The Dutch cyclist has been consistent with her new team, FDJ-Suez, with a string of prestigious victories including Strade Bianche Donne, La Vuelta España Femenina, Itzulia Women, Volta Catalunya Femenina, and the European Road Championships.

Vollering's success also led FDJ-Suez to make history by taking first place in the UCI World Ranking for the women's team for the first time, ending the dominance of Team SD Worx-Protime.

Dutch cyclists' dominance was further enhanced by Lorena Wiebes' performance, who racked up 25 wins throughout the season. Overall, the Netherlands leads the UCI rankings with 14,422.99 points.

The 2025 season will also be remembered for its world-class rivalries. In the men's division, the duel between Pogacar and Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard has created a fierce rivalry in major races, particularly the Tour de France, despite Vingegaard's superior stage race rankings.
