Indonesian women's singles player Putri Kusuma Wardani opened Indonesia's lead over Malaysia in the women's team semifinals of the 2025 SEA Games Thailand at Gymnasium 4 Thammasat University Rangsit Campus, Pathum Thani, Bangkok, Monday.
Putri convincingly defeated Karupathevan Letshanaa 21-9, 21-10, giving Indonesia a 1-0 lead. This result also extended her perfect record over Letshanaa to four wins in four meetings.
"My opponent and I have met quite often. So, I can better handle both good and weak balls," Putri said after the match.
Putri dominated from the start of the first game. She led 6-3, then maintained her lead to lead 11-4 at the interval.
After the break, her dominance was unwavering. Consistent pressure made it difficult for Letshanaa to develop her game. Putri closed the first game with a convincing 21-9 victory.
Entering the second game, Putri fell behind 1-3 after Letshanaa took the initiative. However, the Mutiara Cardinal Bandung player quickly responded, equalizing the score and taking a 4-3 lead.
The tight battle lasted until the score was 6-5, before Putri again established her dominance.
