Boxer Adelaida Ruiz overcame Alexas Kubicki's resistance to claim the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) women's super flyweight (52.1kg) title in a fight in Fresno, United States.
"Ruiz won by unanimous decision in a 10-round bout, allowing him to be crowned champion and solidifying his position as a major force in the division," the WBC reported on its official website, as monitored in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Ruiz displayed his dominance from the opening bell. His aggressive fighting style proved decisive against a formidable opponent like Kubicki.
In the fifth round, Ruiz gained momentum when he rained down a barrage of punches on Kubicki's face, sending him crashing to the canvas.
