The Minister of Communication and Information Technology is pushing for the expansion of connectivity in disaster-affected areas.
Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid said the government continues to mobilize efforts to expand connectivity in areas affected by flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"We are also deploying temporary satellite connectivity, whether from SATRIA-1 or Starlink, PSN, and others, in affected areas, including Aceh and Tamiang," said the Minister of Communication and Digital Technology when met in Jakarta on Thursday.

While waiting for connectivity through various means, Meutya said her party also asked cellular operators to repair networks in disaster-affected areas.

"We're still assessing where satellite assistance will be needed, while waiting for our mobile operators to improve their existing networks (for example) in the Aceh region," he said.

Furthermore, the Minister of Communication and Digital noted that the peak of damage or malfunction of Base Transceiver Station (BTS)-based telecommunications infrastructure began on Tuesday (December 2). However, two days later, he assessed that telecommunications connectivity trends in several disaster-affected areas continued to show improvement.
