Erdy Suryadarma and M. Ridho Izzulhaq from Bandung developed Libere with a focus on building a library infrastructure and digital publishing based on Web3 technology.
When presenting the award to Libere developers at the 2025 Creative Economy Tech Summit Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya said that Libere's achievements demonstrate the capabilities of Indonesia's creative talent.
"Libere demonstrates that Indonesia's creative and technological talent is capable of competing globally while also providing relevant solutions to meet public needs," he said, as quoted in a ministry press release in Jakarta on Tuesday.
"Innovations like this are crucial for strengthening the national creative economy ecosystem and encouraging the modernization of public services through the responsible use of technology," he added.
Libere is a Web3 infrastructure designed to support publishers, libraries, and institutions in distributing digital books securely with a transparent and programmatic royalty mechanism.
By aligning the interests of creators, publishers, libraries, and institutional partners, Libere offers solutions to address piracy, opaque royalty systems, and limited digital access while opening up opportunities for new distribution models based on partnerships and corporate social responsibility programs.
The Ministry of Creative Economy considers Libere's collaboration with the Bandung Institute of Technology and the Bandung City Government an example of positive synergy between innovators, educational institutions, and local governments in an effort to increase public access to knowledge.
In the Infinity Hackathon event organized by the Ministry of Creative Economy and the Financial Services Authority, Libere was deemed superior thanks to its solid technical approach and use of blockchain technology to support public services in the fields of culture and knowledge.
This project is developing an on-chain public library system that leverages blockchain and NFTs to support digital ownership management, transparent distribution of creator royalties, and accountable institutional governance.
