UNDP analysts point out the need for regulations to crack down on AI abuse
Syamsul Tarigan, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Analyst for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia, stated that Indonesia needs to have specific regulations to address the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

In a discussion held in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, he stated that there are currently still gaps in regulations regarding artificial intelligence ( AI ) in Indonesia, including regarding the misuse of AI to create pornographic content.

"One thing I think is still a gap in the regulatory or legislative context is that we don't yet have a law that specifically addresses artificial intelligence or artificial intelligence," he said.

Syamsul said that currently, with the support of AI technology, people can easily create pornographic content and distribute it.

"For example, in the past, the photos distributed were of real ex-boyfriends. Now, with advances in technology, people can produce pornographic deepfakes in seconds using apps," he said.
