APG 2025 Gold is Rafli Ahnaf's gift to his beloved son
Indonesian para judo athlete Rafli Ahnaf Shidqi presented his gold medal at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games (APG) in Thailand as a special gift for his son, who just celebrated his fourth birthday.

He won gold in the final of the men's J1 -70 kilogram (kg) individual event, at the Convention Hall, The Mall Korat, Nakhon Ratchasima, Friday afternoon.

"My biggest motivation is my family, especially my children. I have one child, so this gold medal is a gift for my son, who celebrated his birthday yesterday and is now four years old," he said after receiving the gold medal.

This success felt emotional for the 26-year-old, because during the preparation period until the match he had to be separated from his family, especially his children who are his biggest source of motivation.

Therefore, the highest caste medal became a way to redeem the longing after months of undergoing national training camp (pelatnas) in Solo City, Central Java, aka far from home in Bandung City, West Java.

Rafli revealed that the night before the match, he had trouble sleeping due to the pressure of the upcoming match. To calm himself, the gold medalist at the 2022 APG Indonesia (Solo) chose to distract himself by playing with his gadgets and watching entertainment.
