Indonesian men's doubles badminton players Fajar Alfian and Moh. Shohibul Fikri have set a target of winning the 2026 Indonesia Masters.
In the men's doubles event, Indonesia last won the tournament in 2023, when Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin emerged victorious.
Building on his impressive performance throughout 2025, Fajar is confident of winning the BWF Super 500 tournament.
"Our personal goal, and the coach's, is to give our best, which is to win here. It's been a long time since we won in Indonesia, so it's been three years since we won at Istora, and now I want to win with Fikri here," Fajar said at a press conference at Istora in Senayan.
In the round of 32, Fajar/Fikri defeated Taiwanese doubles pair Chen Zhi Ray/Lin Yu Chieh in two straight games 21-16, 21-10.
In this match, Fajar admitted that the Taiwanese pair had speed and strategy that was not easy to stop.
However, based on performance analysis, Fajar/Fikri were able to maximize their strategy and secure victory.
When asked about his debut at Istora as a new men's doubles player, Fikri admitted that he felt a different atmosphere compared to his previous partners.
"For me personally, this is my first time playing with Aa Fajar at Istora. It's quite different from previous pairings. But the situation on the court is actually pretty much the same," Fikri said.
This victory brought Fajar/Fikri following their juniors Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin who had previously secured tickets to the round of 16.
