The World Boxing Council (WBC) stated that former WBC bantamweight world champion Dina Thorslund is ready to face a new challenge against Almudena Alvarez for the interim featherweight title (57.1) on January 31 in Denmark.

"This fight for the WBC interim featherweight title is an opportunity for him to once again prove his worth as a true champion," the WBC said in a statement on its official website, as monitored in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Thorslund is known as one of the most consistent and experienced female boxers of her era. While still holding the WBC bantamweight world championship belt, she successfully defended her title with authority.

Relying on solid technique, control, and discipline throughout the rounds, Thorslund consistently dominates the ring. His undefeated record is a testament to the champion's quality, with 23 wins, including 10 by knockout .

Now, Thorslund has chosen to take on a new challenge by moving up to featherweight. This decision not only demonstrates her ambition to achieve success in a higher division but also confirms her status as a leading figure in women's boxing.

Meanwhile, her opponent, Almudena Alvarez, comes with high spirits and determination. The Spanish boxer will be facing the most important fight of her professional career so far.

Although he is still less experienced than Thorslund, Alvarez sees this fight as a golden opportunity to make history.

Alvarez entered the fight with a professional record of seven wins  and three losses. In his last few fights, he has shown significant improvement in his performance, both technically and mentally.
