Ghana: poverty rate down for the 3rd consecutive quarter

Ghana's poverty rate falls to 21.9% in the third quarter of 2025. These data released by the Ghana Statistical Service confirm an improvement in living conditions throughout the country.

The decline was observed over the previous two quarters as well, which proves a constant evolution and marks an exit from poverty for around 950,000 people between the third quarter of 2024 and the third quarter of 2025.

These data are calculated on the multidimensional poverty index (MPI) which is based on indicators in the sectors of health, education, employment, and living conditions in particular.

If the improvement in poverty at the national level is undeniable, inequalities persist depending on the region, with real disparities that persist between rural and urban areas; a uniform distribution of national progress remains to be worked on.
