Indonesia joins the Peace Council, Prabowo's hopes for Gaza
President Prabowo Subianto expressed his hopes for the Palestinian people in Gaza after Indonesia officially joined the Peace Council, an initiative of United States President Donald J. Trump.

The launch of the Gaza Peace Council was held by President Trump at Congress Hall, the location of the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, Thursday afternoon.

During the ceremony, President Prabowo also signed the Peace Council Charter with President Trump, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and leaders of other member states.

"I think this is a historic opportunity. This is a historic opportunity. This is truly an opportunity to achieve peace in Gaza," President Prabowo said in response to reporters' questions after attending the launch of the Peace Council in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday.

"What is clear is that the suffering of the people in Gaza has diminished, greatly. Humanitarian aid is pouring in in huge quantities. I have great hope, and Indonesia is ready to participate," said President Prabowo.

According to Prabowo, the countries that are members of the Peace Council are those that want to help the Palestinian people in Gaza. These countries are also those that desire peace in Gaza.

"Those who want peace (are there, ed.), those who want to help the people of Gaza, the Palestinian people (are on the council, ed.)," said President Prabowo in response to journalists' questions.
